What is Botox and how does it work?

Botox is used to safely and effectively relax facial muscles to help correct existing lines and prevent new wrinkles from forming.

Dr. Howard would inject small amounts of Botox into your facial muscles, the muscle is than paralyzed. When the muscles relax, the wrinkles then disappear. An injection will visibly soften your deep facial lines and wrinkles from forming.

Botox treatment is most effective on deep frown lines between the eyes, brow and forehead lines and wrinkles or crow's feet.

How long will these benefits last?

Botox results will first reach its full efficacy in 2 weeks. Everyone metabolizes Botox differently, so results will vary but typically last between 3-4 months. After each re-treatment, fewer units may be required to produce similar results, and lines will return as less severe since the muscles are now trained to relax.

Are Botox treatments safe and painless?

In 2002 Botox was FDA approved as a cosmetic treatment to help correct visible signs of stress and aging.
Dr. Howard is an expert in giving injections and anesthetic techniques for minimal or pain-free treatments. He uses a very thin needle to inject tiny amounts of material into the area(s) where you want to erase wrinkles and lines. You may experience a small pin prick, but anesthetic is not necessary. You will be able to return to your everyday activities immediately after treatment.

Are there any Side Effects?

Few, if any and there may be a few rare cases of slight drooping or asymmetry depending on the injection sight. Occasionally, a patient might report headaches after treatment.
